Auto Insight Rating System
Unlike other car reviews which may give you a basic rating, Auto Insight conducts our car reviews by showing the test car's rating as it compares to its competition.  A rating between 70-75 is what is deemed typical for a car in its particular class.  Anything above this range shows that the manufacturer has managed to raise the bar for the ranked category.  A rating below this range shows areas where improvements need to be made.  Below is a detailed breakdown as to how we rate our test cars.

All cars are rated in 10 categories on a scale of 1-10. The scoring is as follows:
1 : Horrendous. Run, don't walk, away from the dealership!
2 : Just awful.
3 : Still awful - but not as bad as a 2.
4 : Unacceptable. Flawed design or implementation can hamper enjoyment of automobile.
5 : Below average. Something's not right and needs to be fixed.
6 : Slightly below average, but not by much. Slight improvements could make things OK.
7 : Average. Meets expectations for a car in its class.
8 : Good. Car ranks slightly better compared to competitors in its class.
9 : Very good. Car meets or exceeds expectations.
10 : Excellent, stellar, near perfect! Car far exceeds expectations for its class. A very rare ranking.

Below are the 10 different categories which we use to rate our test cars:
Styling – How aesthetically pleasing is the car (internally and externally)?
Amenities – Does the car have all the extras expected for a car in its class?
Ergonomics – How well do the controls and cabin work with the driver?
Power – A car’s performance during accelerating and passing?
Handling – A car’s ability to handle curves and competently make evasive maneuvers.
Comfort – How comfortable are the seats and cabin?
Roominess – How much room is available for driver & passengers?
Cargo Space – How much storage space is available?
Fun to Drive – Is the car fun to drive?
Bang for the Buck – Is the car a good deal for its class?

All scores will be totaled for the different categories which will provide an overall "report card" for the reviewed car. Again, a score in the range of 70-75 is average for its class.  Any score from 76 and above is noteworthy and is worth a second look.
